Sunlight

Emma Lagonzon

From a typical sari-sari-store owner who relies on a small business as her singular source of income, Emma has stepped up and turned into a seller of groundbreaking renewable energy solutions. She is basking in the sunlight, and while she’s at it, she’s helping, not just her family, but also her whole community. Her Hapinoy Store comes equipped with a solar panel, which turns her precious sunlight into usable energy to charge solar lamps that are rented out to her neighbors.A partnership with MicroVentures Incorporated and the Center for Agriculture and Rural Development, the Hapinoy Store provided a rural electrification pilot program that will install innovative Solar Lamp Lease-to-Own Models in Laguna. The program aims to develop a sustainable business model that lights up households in off-grid areas while enhancing the well-being of communities like Emma’s.This is life as it should be – happy and bright, warmed by the sun.

“Naging maliwanag ang aming buhay dito. Mas madaling kumilos ngayon kumpara noon na gasera ang ginagamit dito. Sa tulong ng solar, hindi lang lumiwanag ang aming buhay, naging malakas din po ang kita ng aking tindahan.” – Emma Lagonzon
